Hatch Act Refresher
What Is It?
The Hatch Act is the 1939 law that regulates the political activities of federal employees and government workers. The legislation prohibits nearly all partisan activity by federal employees including endorsement of candidates, distribution of campaign literature, organization of political activities and holding posts in partisan organizations. Partisan activity is allowed outside of working hours and without the use of government resources.
